FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. On the evening of Thursday, April 10, 2025, former Town of Elsmere Mayor Eric Thompson resigned his position as Mayor. The Town and residents applaud Mr. Thompson’s dedication to public service, the time and effort he put into his position, and his focus on what is best for the residents, and wish him the best of luck in future endeavors.
Given the vacancy created by Mr. Thompson’s resignation, President Pro Tempore Joann Personti shall continue her devotion to the Town and its residents, and dedication to public betterment and community service. By operation of the Charter, she became Mayor Personti and was sworn in on Sunday 13, 2025. Prior to becoming Mayor, Mrs. Personti served with distinction as the 5th District Councilwoman for 11 terms. The Department of Elections has been informed that there now is a 5th District vacancy.
